Visions India
Interested in volunteering in South India this summer? Visions is offering a volunteer opportunity in Tamil Nadu, Southern India from July 30-August 19, 2009. We will be conducting 2 leadership trainings in partnership with SAWED Trust again. Please visit our Our Needs/Volunteer page for more information.

In the summer of 2008 a team of 6 Visions volunteers conducted the first Visions Leadership training in India, thus expanding our efforts to a third country! Partnering with the superbly organized and efficient SAWED (Social Action Women's Education and Development) Trust, a training was held at Karaikalmedu High School in Karaikal, Southern India. Both Visions and SAWED Trust are partners of Operation USA, and together we were able to work very efficiently and with great success. Following the successful training of 65 youth over 9 days (8 days of training & 1 day field trip), we believe this was just the beginning of Visions' efforts in India.
As we continue to develop our curriculum and enhance our programs, Visions aims to create lessons and methods that are uniquely South Asian, taking into account specific cultural realities that will ensure our efforts are appropriate and capable of creating positive change. Over the coming months, we hope to further explore the possibilities and opportunities for engaging various communities in Southern India. This is yet another exciting chapter in our organization's growth...
