Featured Project: Kalagam Visions Learning Centre (Colombo)

Working in partnership with Saiva Mangaiyar Kalagam, a Sri Lanka-based nonprofit, construction and development of the KVLC will begin in early 2008. This multistoried learning center will house a Visions office, ample space for student groups and activities (including aesthetics) from the adjacent school (Saiva Mangaiyar Vidyalayam), halls for special trainings and English, a computer lab, a multimedia room, and a Montessori nursery. Over 400 refugee children from the Northeast will benefit from this project, as well as countless other disadvantaged and deserving youth and teachers!

Visions Sri Lanka

Volunteer in Sri Lanka as a Visions Leadership Camp volunteer! (visit our Volunteer page here)

Visions first began in 2003 with a two-week English camp at St. John's Children's Home in Uranee, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. Since then the program has grown tremendously and our efforts are continuing to expand and reach into new directions. However, through it all, the summer Visions Leadership training camps have remained the crux of the Visions organization. With 6 successful summer camps in Sri Lanka (and 2 in Kenya) now under our belt, we will always value this important facet of Visions. An investment of time and effort into improving a child's education is something that one simply cannot put a price tag on.

The curriculum of the Visions Leadership Camps is designed to develop English and Leadership skills amongst youth; train them in establishing Student Leadership Committees; network youth with other youth and local and international volunteers; teach them about citizenship, ethical leadership, and human rights; provide professional and career training and guidance; and motivate youth towards academic and personal success.
